This bookmark features the Museum's Renaissance "M" logo, which is adapted from De Divina Proportione, a mathematical treatise printed in Venice in 1509 that describes the shapes and proportions of classical Roman letters. Its author, Luca Pacioli (Italian, ca. 1445–1514), was a Franciscan friar and a well-known mathematician whose most famous achievement was inventing, or at least codifying, the technique of double-entry bookkeeping. A copy of De Divina Proportione is part of the Museum's collection of drawings and prints.

Gold plated brass. 1 5/8 in. square.
