Unknown Artist: Birds and Flowers in Four Seasons: Spring and Summer Framed Print

This decorative print reproduces one of a pair of 18th-century Japanese hanging scrolls (Edo period, probably 1777–1781) featuring the theme of kachôga (bird and flower painting). A willow tree with swallows in its branches and two birds of paradise perched lower down indicate spring. At the base of the tree are peonies and green grass, suggesting summer, and a kingfisher is perched on a rock by the fast-flowing mountain stream as sparrows fly above. Produced in cooperation with the British Museum, London.

Matte laminated and framed in gold-toned wood. 40 5/8 in. x 18 1/8 in. Includes hardware for hanging.
