Metropolitan Museum of Art New York Snowglobe
Metropolitan Museum of Art New York Snowglobe

Displayed in this snowglobe is the impressive Fifth Avenue façade of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, which spans four city blocks. Since the Museum’s original building opened to the public in 1880, the Museum has undertaken several major programs of expansion and remodeling to best exhibit its ever-growing collection. The structures along Fifth Avenue are additions to the Museum’s 19th-century core, which is set back in Central Park. Behind the Museum (and out of scale, of course), stand several icons of New York’s cityscape: the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, and the Statue of Liberty. In addition, nestled among the trees, you’ll find Cleopatra’s Needle, the ancient Egyptian obelisk located just behind the real-life Museum in Central Park. Our snowglobe is based on historical photographs and drawings in the Museum's collection.

Resin and glass. Height including base 5 1/4 in.; diameter 4 1/2 in.
