Sale - Fluorite Pomander Necklace
Fluorite Pomander Necklace

Pomanders are pierced metal or openwork cages used to hold aromatic herbs or spices. In the Middle Ages, they were often draped from the girdle or sometimes from a necklace or rosary. The beads of our Fluorite Pomander Necklace are capped with delicate filigree domes adapted from the two halves of a miniature, finely-granulated filigree pomander (Northern European, 14th or 15th century) that may have held a sponge dipped in perfume. Produced in cooperation with the Museum of Decorative Arts, Prague-UPM.

Fluorite beads, with lightly antiqued sterling silver caps. (Because of the natural properties of fluorite, beads will range in color from light green to dark purple.) Length 17 1/2 in.

Original price $225
