Spring Flowers Seder Plate and Cups

The Jewish festival of Passover celebrates freedom and also marks the beginning of springtime. It begins with the Seder, the special ceremonial meal during which the biblical story of the liberation of the Hebrew slaves from Egypt is recounted. The design of the Museum’s plate and accompanying cups is adapted from a mid-19th-century porcelain Seder plate from Hungary, whose jewel-like colors and sweet wild flowers reflect the new beginnings of the season. Inscribed in Hebrew are the six symbolic foods of the Seder: roasted egg, roasted shank bone, charoset (a mixture of fruits and nuts), two bitter herbs, and green vegetables. Produced in cooperation with the Skirball Cultural Center, Los Angeles.

Porcelain, with decals. Microwave and dishwasher safe.
