John Nugent Fitch: Dendrobium Polyphlebium Orchids Framed Print

British artist John Nugent Fitch (1840–1927) painted and lithographed 528 plates for The Orchid Album, a monumental work of eleven volumes published as a subscription series between 1872 and 1897. Fitch was the nephew of the renowned botanical artist Walter H. Fitch and his album was enthusiastically received by horticulturists and orchid enthusiasts the world over. Each colored plate is accompanied by a botanical description of the plant and notes on its cultivation. Our framed print reproduces the orchid Dendrobium polyphlebium. Produced in cooperation with The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens, San Marino, California.

Framed in silver-toned wood, with plexiglass cover. 16 1/8 in. x 13 5/8 in. Includes hardware for hanging.
