The World of Cole Porter
David Garrard Lowe, author of Art Deco New York
Bobby Nesbitt, pianist and singer

The melodies and the words are as fresh and lovely as they were when Cole Porter wrote them three-quarters of a century ago: “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “Just One of Those Things,” “Easy To Love.” This richly illustrated series is a musical and verbal tribute to an incomparable American artist. After a musical overture, as it were, the series will move on to Paris, Porter’s home in the 1920s, then to Venice, where he dwelt in a magnificent marble palace on the Grand Canal, and finally to New York, his home beginning in the 1930s, whose brittle brilliance inspired some of his most memorable songs.

This week’s topic:

Cole Porter: Words and Music.
Concept and narration by David Garrard Lowe
Songs performed by Bobby Nesbitt

PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT.
STANDING ROOM TICKETS WILL GO ON SALE AT THE BOX OFFICE BEGINNING ONE HOUR PRIOR TO THE LECTURE.
