Cretan; Excavated in Praisos
Gift of the Archaeological Institute of America, 1953 (53.5.39)

A good example of a kalathiskos dance is represented on several plaques excavated in Praisos on Crete. On this example, a girl dressed in a short chiton and kalathos (boxlike headdress) dances in front of a tall, bending plant.
