This elegant, understated table is one of a handful of stop-fluted straight-legged pieces bearing the label of John Townsend of Newport, Rhode Island. All share the same refined and labor-intensive construction features, including multiple cross braces joining the side rails, and pierced corner brackets that are mortised and tenoned to leg and rail.
