1/2 x 7/16 in. (1.3 x 1.14 cm)
Gift of John Taylor Johnston, 1881 (81.6.48)
A bearded man in a Greek himation is seated before a female bust mounted on a pillar. He lightly holds a brush in his right hand with which he paints the hair of the sculpture. His left hand holds what appears to be a palette. This ringstone may well have belonged to an artist with an expertise in the painting of sculptures.
