Antico (Pier Jacopo Alari-Bonacolsi) (Italian, ca. 1460–1528)
Italy (Mantua)
Bronze; H. 12 in. (30.5 cm)
The Jack and Belle Linsky Collection, 1982 (1982.60.91)

This bronze is one of three in the Museum's collection by the goldsmith-sculptor Antico, so-named because of his adherence to models of classical antiquity. Here, he adapted the torso of an ancient marble for what may have been a lamp made for one of his foremost patrons, the Gonzaga family of Mantua.
