In this image of the Throne of Wisdom, the Virgin Mary tramples on a dragon under her right foot. The Latin word for dragon is draco, the same word for serpent, and the dragon's inclusion here is meant to recall the serpent who tempts Eve in the Book of Genesis. Mary is thus presented as the new Eve, who defeats rather than yields to Satan.
