Purchase, Clara Mertens Bequest, in memory of André Mertens, 1990 (1990.223)
The instrument was restored by the noted English maker George Saint George in 1899. He fitted a new neck, fingerboard, and tailpiece, transferring the original decorative inlaid facing to the new parts.
