Wheat Field with Cypresses, 1889
Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853–1890)
Oil on canvas; 28 3/4 x 36 3/4 in. (73 x 93.4 cm)
Purchase, The Annenberg Foundation Gift, 1993 (1993.132)

Like the Museum's Cypresses (49.30), this work was painted in June 1889, one month after Van Gogh's arrival at the asylum in Saint-Rémy. The artist later painted two variants of the same composition (National Gallery, London, and private collection) and also executed a reed pen drawing after it (Rijksmuseum Vincent van Gogh, Amsterdam).
