This panel, carved from a single piece of elephant ivory, once adorned one side of a rectangular casket. The complexity of the decoration as well as the attention to detailssuch as the eyes of humans and animals, which were drilled and filled with minute clear stonesdemonstrate the refinement and accomplishment of such an object.
