  • Standing Shiva, Pre-Angkor period, Prasat Andet style, late 7th–early 8th century
    Cambodia or Vietnam
    Stone

    H. 24 in. (61 cm)
Harris Brisbane Dick Fund, 1987 (1987.17)

Here Shiva wears only a wraparound skirt (sampot), but can be definitively identified by the vertical third eye on his forehead and his hairstyle of piled matted hair. The low-relief treatment of the garments and the subtle articulation of musculature are characteristic of the Prasat Andet style.
