  • Clump of Trees with a Vista
Rembrandt (Rembrandt van Rijn) (Dutch, 1606–1669)
    Drypoint; second state of two; 4 13/16 x 8 5/16 in. (12.3 x 21.1 cm)
The Sylmaris Collection, Gift of George Coe Graves, 1920 (20.46.4)

The farmhouse that appears in Clump of Trees with a Vista is one that Rembrandt drew several times in the 1650s. The print is one of two landscapes that the artist created entirely in drypoint in this period. The pronounced burr from the drypoint lines that appears on the foliage emphasizes its lushness.
