  • Statuette of Taweret, New Kingdom, early Dynasty 18, ca. 1550–1458 b.c.
    Egyptian; From western Thebes (cAsasif)
Limestone with traces of paint; H. 6 7/8 in. (17.5 cm)
    Purchase, Edward S. Harkness Gift, 1926 (26.7.1404)

The housemistress Taweret lived at about the same time as Hatnofer. Here, Taweret's hair is dressed in a style that was fashionable at Thebes during the early New Kingdom: two large lappets or smaller braids hang in front, with three thicker braids down her back. She also wears a type of simple sheath dress that was common at the time.
