Venture abroad with the Metropolitan Museum's own lecturers and other art lovers to gain new insights and fresh perspectives on art and culture. More than just a vacation, a Travel with the Met international exploration combines curatorial expertise and behind-the-scenes viewing arrangements with spectacular itineraries and interesting companionship.

Travel with the Met programs are offered year-round to more than two dozen exciting destinations. The following list is updated regularly to include new itineraries as soon as they become available. You may also contact us for more information.

Alexandria, Luxor & the Kharga Oasis (PDF)

November 6–19, 2008
Travel to the ancient city of Alexandria, then continue to the Kharga Oasis. View Luxor's rarely visited sites, as well as the pyramids of Saqqara and Dashur.

Mexico TulumNew Year's in the Yucatán (PDF)

December 26, 2008–January 4, 2009
Travel aboard the French yacht Le Levant for a family adventure in the Yucatán over the New Year holiday. From the colonial city of Mérida, we will discover Chichén Itzá, with its pyramids, famous cenote, and the carved facades of its temples. In Uxmal, we will see the richest decorations of all the Mayan cities. Sail to Campeche, Tulum, and Belize. An optional extension is offered to the Mayan city of Tikal, located within a wildlife preserve. Always the most spectacular site in Guatemala, Tikal is now even more impressive as the result of archaeological activity. Tall pyramids, reliefs, and ceramics offer a vivid look at the world of the Maya.

Begin in cosmopolitan Mumbai and explore its rich Victorian legacy. View the monumental ancient stone sculptures at the Elephanta cave temple across the harbor, then journey to the lush region of Kerala. In the great trading center of Kochi, discover a blend of Dutch, Portuguese, and English traditions and influences. Visit the hill resort and tea plantations of Munnar and observe ancient traditions in the great temple town of Madurai. Continue to Thanjavur and the Kaveri River Delta to view the artistic achievements of the Chola Dynasty. Conclude in Chennai.

Begin in the culturally rich capital of Santiago with visits to the Museum of Fine Arts and the renowned Pre-Columbian Art Museum. In the lush Maipo Valley, we are invited for a tasting of Chilean wines at the Santa Rita Winery and to the Museum of the Andes, which houses prized textiles and artifacts. Fly to fabled Easter Island and discover the giant stone figures for which the island is famous.
