Self-Guided ToursDue to the high volume of daily programs in the Museum, groups who plan to bring their own lecturer for a self-guided tour must reserve a lecturer's badge in advance and are limited to thirty-five people per lecturer. Enhance your visit and reserve a one-hour guided tour led by a highly trained Museum lecturer. Get an insider's view of the Museum and customize your tour with a special focus on highlights of the Museum's permanent collection, a particular exhibition, theme, or gallery, For tour topics, visit the Collection Database or review current and upcoming special exhibitions. Tours are available in several languages, including French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Russian, and Spanish. One guide is required per twenty-five people. Additional guides can be requested for a fee. Reservation must be made at least two weeks in advance. Audio Guides provide interpretive audio programming about the Museum's offerings for both special exhibitions and the permanent collection. The Audio Guide is available in English and several other languages. Audio Guides are free for visitors with visual impairments or who are hard of hearing. They are equipped with volume control and are available with headsets or neck loops for hearing aids with T-switches. Transcripts in regular and large print are also available. Groups of ten or more people may reserve Audio Guides at a discounted rate. FeesIndividuals: $7 Two-Museum Visit: The Metropolitan and The CloistersGroups may make appointments to visit The Cloisters, the branch of the Museum devoted to the architecture and art of medieval Europe. The Cloisters is located in northern Manhattan on a hilltop overlooking the Hudson River. If you plan to visit the Museum and The Cloisters on the same day, your group pays admission only once. Packages range from casual to elegant. Groups that reserve dining packages also receive an exclusive shopping discount of 15%—with a purchase of $75 or more—in the Met Store. Information for Bus DriversBuses are not permitted to stand or park on Fifth Avenue. Buses may stop long enough to unload or load passengers. Please note that these laws are strictly enforced by the New York City Department of Transportation. After unloading on Fifth Avenue at 83rd Street, buses may cross Central Park at 79th Street or 65th Street and proceed to West 62nd Street between Columbus Avenue and Amsterdam Avenue, most of which is reserved for bus layovers. The recommended return route is north on Amsterdam Avenue to 86th Street, east on 86th Street across Central Park, and south on Fifth Avenue.Visit the official New York City website for updated motor coach regulations and Charter Bus Parking Guidelines.
