To help cover the cost of special exhibitions, for which there is no additional charge or special ticketing, we ask that you please pay the full suggested amount.
The Museum participates in several programs that allow students free admission to the Museum. All New York City public school students may visit the Museum for free, along with students from Bard College, Barnard College, Columbia University and Institute of Fine Arts. Check with your school administrator to see if your student I.D. allows free admission.

Luggage Policy
Luggage is not allowed into the Museum and cannot be checked in at the Museum's coat-check facilities. This includes small carry-ons and oversize backpacks. All standard-size backpacks, large bags, and packages 16" x 16" x 8" or larger must be checked in at the coat-check facilities. The Museum reserves the right to decide what can and cannot be checked in at the coat-check facilities. Questions about the Museum's luggage or coat-check policy can be referred to the Security Office at 212-570-3781.
Guest Passes
To purchase admission in advance, the Museum offers Guest Passes to individuals or organizations for $20 each or for a discounted rate of $16 each when ten or more passes are purchased. To purchase Guest Passes by telephone, please call 212-570-3711, Monday–Friday, 9:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Or, order passes today by fax or mail.
Members
Admission buttons are available at the Membership Desk in the Great Hall. A discount of 10% is available on all merchandise in the Met Store with a valid Member ID card. For more information about the benefits of joining the Museum, see Membership.
International Visitors
Get online information in Français, Japanese, Español, Italiano, Deutsch, Chinese, Português, Russian, or Korean. Maps, brochures, tours, and assistance in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish can be obtained in the Great Hall during your visit to the Museum. Group Visits

Events & Programs
The Museum offers a broad spectrum of educational programming for all of its audiences, including guided tours in several languages, gallery talks, lectures, and films for adults as well as many activities for families and students. Almost all of these programs are free with Museum admission. Get more information.

Audio Guide
The Audio Guide is available in English and several other languages at distribution booths in the Great Hall and at the entrances to special exhibitions. Transcripts in regular and large print are also available. Fees are waived for visitors who are hard of hearing, blind, or partially sighted. Met Podcast
Met Podcast offers visitors a new and exciting way to enjoy audio programming before, during, or after a visit to the Museum. The Met Store
Located off the Great Hall and in several other convenient locations throughout the building, the Met Store features publications and reproductions produced by the Museum, as well as other books and merchandise related to the permanent collection and special exhibitions. More than two thousand of these products are also available in the online Met Store. Museum Members receive a discount of 10% online, at the Museum, through our mail-order catalogues, and at all Met Store locations across America.
Parking
The Museum parking garage, located at Fifth Avenue and 80th Street, is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. To receive a discount, Museum visitors must have their tickets validated at the Uris Center Information Desk near the Museum entrance at 81st Street. With a validated ticket, the fee is $15 for one hour, $18 for two hours, $23 for three hours, $26 for five hours, and $35 for five to ten hours. The maximum fee to 12:00 a.m. is $40. Without a validated ticket, the fee is $17 for one hour, $22 for two hours, $27 for three hours, $30 for five hours, and $35 for five to ten hours. The maximum fee to 12:00 a.m. is $40. Designated spaces are available in the parking garage for visitors with disabilities. The clearance is six feet, six inches (6' 6"). Alternate arrangements can be made in advance for visitors with disabilities traveling in oversized vehicles. Please call 212-879-5500, ext. 3561 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Bicycle racks are provided inside the garage for use during regular Museum hours only. Bicycles are parked at the owner's risk; the Museum can accept no responsibility for vandalism or theft.
Accessibility

Street-level entrances are at Fifth Avenue and 81st Street and at the Museum Parking Garage at Fifth Avenue and 80th Street. Wheelchairs are available free of charge at coat-check areas on a first-come, first-served basis. The Museum is accessible to wheelchair users.
Public Telephones
There are public telephones with volume control. A public TTY is inside the Parking Garage entrance.
Assistive Listening Devices

A limited number of FM assistive listening devices for Museum tours and programs are available at the Audio Guide desk in the Great Hall. The Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium is equipped with an infrared sound enhancement system (headsets and neck loops). To obtain a headset, please ask an usher. Headsets and neck loops are available free of charge with identification.
Large Print

Large-print labels are available for some special exhibitions. They can be found in plexiglass dispensers at entrances to these exhibitions.
Service Animals
Service animals are welcome in the Museum.

Amenities for Children
Back carriers are available at coat-check areas at 81st Street and 82nd Street entrances. Strollers are permitted in most areas—inquire at Information Desks for gallery limitations. Oversized and jogging strollers are prohibited.
Coat-Check Facilities
All bags, standard-size backpacks, umbrellas, and packages 16" x 16" x 8" or larger must be checked in at the coat-check facilities. To avoid waiting in line at the coat-check facilities, please do not bring these items to the Museum. Please note that luggage is not permitted in the Museum and may not be checked in at the coat-check. To ensure the safety of the artwork, the Museum does not permit bags to be carried on one's back in the galleries. Questions about the Museum's coat-check or luggage policy can be referred to the Security Office at 212-570-3781.
Gallery Photography Policy
Still photography is permitted for private, noncommercial use only in the Museum's galleries devoted to the permanent collection. Photographs cannot be published, sold, reproduced, transferred, distributed, or otherwise commercially exploited in any manner whatsoever. Photography is not permitted in special exhibitions or areas designated as "No Photography"; works of art on loan from private collections or other institutions may not be photographed. The use of a flash is prohibited. Movie and video cameras are prohibited. Tripods are allowed on weekdays only, and only with a permit issued by the Information Desk in the Great Hall.

See The Image Library for any requests regarding photographs of works of art owned by the Museum for any purpose other than private and noncommercial.
The Museum reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to withhold and/or withdraw permission to photograph on its premises or to reproduce photographs of objects in its collection.
Sketching and Copying
Sketching, in pencil only, is permitted in all the permanent collection galleries of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Sketching is also permitted in most special exhibitions; please inquire at the Information Desk in the Great Hall about current exhibitions and guidelines.
The use of ballpoint pens, ink, markers, fountain pens, or watercolors is not permitted at any time. Crayon, pastel, and charcoal are permitted only on Museum-supervised tours that specifically authorize their use.
While sketching, please do not hinder visitor traffic flow in the galleries.
During periods of high attendance, the Museum reserves the right to make any necessary adjustments to this sketching policy.

Admissions

The Trie Café, located in the covered walkway surrounding the Trie Cloister, serves light fare and snacks Tuesday–Sunday from 10:00 a.m to 4:30 p.m., May through October.

A van is available to assist wheelchair users and other visitors with mobility impairments to enter the Museum. The Cloisters has some limited access for visitors with mobility impairments. From East Side of Manhattan: Take the
train to 86th Street and walk three blocks west to Fifth Avenue; or take the M1, M2, M3, or M4 bus along Fifth Avenue (from uptown locations) to 82nd Street or along Madison Avenue (from downtown locations) to 83rd Street.
From West Side of Manhattan: Take the
train to 86th Street, then the M86 crosstown bus across Central Park to Fifth Avenue.
From Penn Station: Take the M4 bus to 83rd Street and Madison Avenue.

From Brooklyn and Staten Island: Take Williamsburg Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge, or Battery Tunnel to northbound/uptown FDR Drive; exit at 96th Street; turn left on York Avenue; turn right on 86th Street; turn left on Fifth Avenue and enter Museum parking garage at 80th Street.
From Southern New Jersey: Take New Jersey Turnpike to Holland Tunnel–Uptown exit; northbound Hudson Street becomes Eighth Avenue, which becomes Central Park West; at 86th Street, turn right and cross Central Park; turn right on Fifth Avenue and enter Museum parking garage at 80th Street.
From Bronx, Queens, Long Island, Upstate New York, and New England via Triborough Bridge: Take southbound/downtown FDR Drive to 96th Street exit; turn left on York Avenue; turn right on 86th Street; turn left on Fifth Avenue and enter Museum parking garage at 80th Street.

By Subway/Bus
Take the M4 bus directly to the last stop (Fort Tryon Park–The Cloisters) or take the
train to 190th Street, exit station by elevator, and walk north along Margaret Corbin Drive for approximately 10 minutes; to avoid walking, transfer to the M4 bus and ride one stop north.

By Car
Take Henry Hudson Parkway northbound to first exit after George Washington Bridge (Fort Tryon Park–The Cloisters). This exit is accessible only from northbound lane; if coming from the north, take Henry Hudson Parkway southbound to exit 14–15, make U-turn, and travel north one mile to exit marked Fort Tryon Park–The Cloisters.
