Gallery Label "The Huis ten Bosch" (House in the Wood) at The Hague, designed by Pieter Post, was built in the late 1640s as a suburban villa for Amalia van Solms, wife of the Dutch "stadtholder" Frederick Hendrick. Van der Heyden painted at least six views of the house and garden, one of which is dated 1668.
Notes The Huis ten Bosch (House in the Woods), near The Hague, was designed by the architect Pieter Post in about 1645 and completed in 1651 as a suburban villa for Amalia van Solms, wife of the Dutch stadtholder Prince Frederick Hendrick.
