Marking:  Leopard's head crowned (London assay office mark);  Small black letter f (date letter for 1683–84);  Lion passant guardant (English quality mark for sterling);  W F, double bowknot above, cinquefoil below (maker's mark for William Fowle);  tiny mark, almost unidentifiable.
Location of marks: - on surface of both trays (a), all partly effaced;  on underside of each foot (b);  on right border of .11 a, near edge; and twice on right border of .12 a, near edge.
