The panels remained in the Volk family in Maine until sold at auction by Cyr Auction Company with the contents of the family estate "Hewn Oaks" on July 19, 2006. The panels were bought at the auction by dealers Arlene and William M. Scwind, Jr., who are selling them to the museum.
