Walker Evans collected, classified, and grouped together these postcards.
After Evans's death, Lesley Baier, a graduate student at Yale, reorganized his collection of postcards. She created both sub categories and new categories. Included with this lot is an index card inscribed in Baier's hand: "European-Landscapes," which came to the Museum grouped with the cards.
These cards are not organized by geography.
