Inscription: A long inscription in English, in pen and dark brown ink, was written by an early collector directly on the reverse of the wood panel, and is only very partly legible against the much darkened hue of the wood: “…by Albert Durer…/…/…/ I should rather judge by Goltzius…/…/ etc.”
