Radiate Cross

Not on view

Radiate crosses, which unite the sun and cross to symbolize Jesus Christ, are widespread in Armenian culture. Many Armenian Church hymns draw on the story of Christ the Lord, who rises in the world as the sun of justice and truth, and who, through his death on the cross, gave man eternal life. Similar radiate crosses, together with other crosses and sacred utensils, can be found on church altars and baptismal fonts.
