This illumination by Zak’ariay of Awan, a student of Hakob of Julfa, features the fifth day of the creation of the world on the left. The Creator appears as Christ enthroned above his animal creations: a fish-like Leviathan sea-monster, a phoenix, and other winged creatures. On the right, two rays connect the Creator to the newly formed Adam. The vibrant colors and linear painting style continue the decorative tradition of Greater Armenia.
