Madame Grès (Alix Barton) (French, Paris 1903–1993 Var region)
Gift of Mrs. Lillian T. Farley, 1967
Not on view
A fullness that radiates from the neckline to underarm endows the gown with a sense of the fabric abundance. Grès balances profliate use of fabric with passages of minimalism to the effect of enchanging in a sweet-and-sour delight the feelings of both moderation and magnificence.
