Teens Take the Met
Friday, October 17, 5:00–8:00 p.m.
Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education (Show location on map)
This Friday, October 17, teens are going to take over the Met! Teens ages 13 and older are invited to a Museum-wide, teen-only festival in which they can engage with the Museum's collection, explore their own creativity, and make the Met their space to explore and experiment with art.
At Teens Take the Met, get inspired by creative people from other museums and cultural institutions in New York, and receive information about all the opportunities for teens around the city, all under one roof. The night will be jam-packed with so many activities around the Museum that we bet you'll have a hard time choosing what to do first!
Enjoy unexpected performances, dance to a set by DJ Kakez, and write a short play. Design your own tattoos and screen print tote bags, create unconventional costumes and protective armor, and work collectively with other teens to create a giant mural. Meet artists, learn how they work, and make your own art during drop-in workshops in which you can shape metal, build interlocking sculptures, and sketch in the galleries. And don't forget to take home your own miniature 3D print!
Bring your friends for an exciting night! We hope to see you all there. Teens Take the Met is free and open to all teens ages 13 and above.
