Animal Friends: a celebration for the whole family at The Met Cloisters, with demonstrations and gallery workshops.

Cuxa Cloister

In this self-guided art hunt, look for details of birds, dogs, horses, lions, and unicorns throughout the galleries of The Met Cloisters. For children ages 4–12.

12–1 and 2–3 pm
West Terrace

Master Falconer Lorrie Schumacher of Talons! A Bird of Prey Experience presents live birds of prey, including a Harris Hawk, an Eagle Owl, and a Gyrfalcon. Learn about the history of falconry and how these magnificent birds were trained as valued partners to the medieval hunt. For all ages.

1–2 (in English) and 3–4 pm (in English and bilingual Spanish-English program)
Meet in the Main Hall

From falcons and dogs to horses and sheep, animals were a big part of life in the Middle Ages. In this family gallery workshop, find your favorite furry and feathered friends and make your own pet creature to take home. For children ages 4–12.
