Plein Air Drawing and Painting Workshop
5:30–6:45 pm and 7–8:15 pm
Using Central Park as your subject, explore techniques of plein air drawing and painting with artist Pamela Lawton. Space is limited; first come, first served. Open to visitors of all ages.

Artists on Artworks: Huma Bhabha

See The Met collection through artists' eyes. Join artist Huma Bhabha as she explores objects at The Met that inspire and inform her practice. Presented in conjunction with The Roof Garden Commission: Huma Bhabha, We Come in Peace. Space is limited; advance registration is required.

Join curators, conservators, and educators for lively, 30-minute dialogues on works of art on view in the galleries.

James Middleton, independent scholar
6:30–8 pm
Using portraits and genre scenes from the exhibition Painted in Mexico, 1700–1790: Pinxit Mexici, dress historian James Middleton discusses how 18th-century Mexicans selectively embraced or rejected contemporary European fashion trends, creating a style scene that was both fully cosmopolitan and intensely local.
This conversation is offered in English at 6:30 pm and in Spanish at 7:30 pm.

Join a conservator to learn about her technical investigations into American artist Thornton Dial's use of coffee and Coca-Cola as drawing materials. Presented in conjunction with the exhibition History Refused to Die: Highlights from the Souls Grown Deep Foundation Gift.

Drop-in Drawing
6:30–8:30 pm
Be inspired by artists and original works of art. Experience The Met collection through creative drawing challenges in the galleries. Materials are provided, but you may bring your own sketchbook. Please note, only pencils are allowed in the galleries. Demonstrations repeat every 30 minutes. Open to visitors of all ages.
