Sculpting and Casting Jewelry

$65 for the one-session workshop, plus $10 for materials. Fee includes Museum admission. Limited student discounts available.

Susan Kasson Sloan, jeweler

Sculpt on a small scale and discover the secrets of creating jewelry with found objects and epoxy resin. Visit the exhibition Unique by Design: Contemporary Jewelry in the Donna Schneier Collection to unpack the mysteries of innovative jewelry techniques, and spend time in the studio experimenting with casting resin and molds. Explore the use of mold making for small production runs and the use of molds for variations on a theme. Take home samples and a piece of wearable art.

This workshop meets in the Met's galleries and studios. Participants must be 18 or older. All levels welcome. Space is limited. Purchase tickets below or at the Great Hall box office. Instructor: Susan Kasson Sloan

Susan Kasson Sloan, studio jeweler and instructor, is on the faculty of the 92nd Street Y in New York City and the Art School at Old Church in Demarest, New Jersey. She has taught workshops nationally at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Penland School of Crafts, Brookfield Craft Center, and Southwest School of Art. She is the recipient of three New Jersey State Council on the Arts fellowship grants. Her work is in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Racine Art Museum (RAM), the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum.
