Bucket with Running Animals

Not on view

On this bucket made during the Islamic period, animals run across an elaborate floral scroll, motifs originating in the Byzantine era. The inscriptions in Arabic offer auspicious wishes typical of the era: "Glory and prosperity and auspiciousness and health and felicity and victory and divine grace and magnificence."
