Trade cards from the "Girl Baseball Players" series (N48), issued in 1886 by Allen & Ginter to promote Virginia Brights and Dixie Cigarettes. There are two types of card in the series. Type 1 shows a female baseball player in a uniform with a polka dotted bib, and most often the cards are numbered. Type 2 depicts a female baseball player in a standard uniform with her player position noted on the image.
