America entered the war on April 6, 1917, joining the Allied forces. This book was made after the war’s end in anticipation of U.S. President Woodrow Wilson’s trip to the Paris Peace Conference in January 1919. On the cover, Laboureur, a celebrated illustrator, shows an American ship greeted enthusiastically by the French. Inside are colored woodcuts depicting contemporary American soldiers of various ranks from the different military branches.
