T.A.C. Colenbrander Dutch
Manufacturer Plateelbakkerij Ram, Arnhem, The Netherlands Dutch
Trained as an architect, Colenbrander incorporated shapes inspired by nature and the built environment into his designs for pottery and carpets. In 1921, Colenbrander was appointed design director at artist-dealer N. H. (Henri) van Lerven’s newly formed Plateelbakkerij Ram (Ram Pottery) in Arnhem, where he produced some of his most successful work. Renowned for his bright palette and innovative use of fanciful motifs, Colenbrander designed abstract pottery by applying boldly colored glazes onto white or cream earthenware vases.
