Emelihter Kihleng

Emelihter Kihleng is a Pohnpeian poet and curator raised in Pohnpei, Guam and Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. Her first collection of poetry, My Urohs, was published by Kahuaomānoa Press in 2008. From 2019 to 2020, Emelihter served as an inaugural curatorial research fellow at MARKK Museum am Rothenbaum in Hamburg, where she curated the exhibition Kilel oh Kapwat: Reconnecting Pohnpeians with Our Past and co-curated In the Shadow of Venus: Lisa Reihana and Pacific Taonga. Emelihter also co-curated Urohs Fever, part of a large exhibit focused on the arts of central Micronesia for the Asia Pacific Triennial in 2022. She previously held a digital residency at the Übersee-Museum in Bremen and is currently the Andrew W. Mellon Fellow for Arts of Oceania at the Denver Art Museum, where she is responsible for the reinstallation of the Arts of Oceania collection.
