Not on view

This group of prints consists of 108 plates from the volume Nouvelle Iconologie Historique, published in 1768 by Jean Charles Delafosse. Delafosse's designs were principally aimed at architects and interior decorators, but they are also given iconographical themes per series, some of which are self-evident while others are rather enigmatic. The prints are divided over a bound album, four fascicles in 20th-century blue and red wove paper wrappers, and one loose plate. They were acquired in this manner and demonstrate how dealers would often break up larger series into smaller groupings for sales purposes.
