Contemporary Egyptian Artists and Heirs to an Ancient Tradition

September 14, 1999–January 23, 2000

Long known for its ancient art, Egypt is also a modern country with contemporary artists working in all media. These artists draw on Egypt's rich past and vibrant present as well as their own individual creative vision. The exhibition features approximately twenty-one paintings and fifty sculptures by two of the most prominent contemporary Egyptian artists, abstract painter Farouk Hosny and sculptor Adam Henein.
