若い男の肖像
フィレンツェで描かれたこの肖像画は、ブロンズィーノの作品のなかでも最も魅力的な作品に数えられます。モデルはおそらく彼と 親しかった文学好きの仲間のひとりだっ たと思われます。仲間には、同じく肖像画のモデルとなった歴史家のベネデット・ヴァーチと詩人のローラ・バッティフェーリもいました。ブロンズィーノ本人も詩を書いており、題材はまじめなものから卑猥なものまでありました。この絵には、テーブルと椅子に彫られた醜い頭の彫刻や、若者のズボンのひだで形成された仮面のような顔を含め、空想的で機知に富んだ意匠が見られます。これらは、肖像画と自己顕示に対する皮肉な批評として、文学愛好家の間で非常に高く評価されたと思われます。
