Evening coat
Saint Laurent's pink silk faille trench coat is a more contemporary a take on the evening wrap. The designer gave it to Mrs. Kempner on her fiftieth wedding anniversary. The coat's transposition from menswear and functional outerwear to formal womenswear is a strategy Saint Laurent employed from the beginning of his career with his own house and is consistent with the thinking that created "Le Smoking."
