Fan

fourth quarter 19th century
Not on view
This is probably a child's fan but worked with very fine materials. The needle-made lace of the leaf is handmade and the placement of the motifs indicates it is made precisely for a fan of this size and shape; particularly charming is the melon shape beneath the two flowers at the center of the leaf.
