Created according to instructions from ladies' magazines of the time, memorabilia fans such as this are Interesting documents from their periods. They represent commercial design styles as well as what people considered worthy of recording both from the personal and social point of view. Here prestigious institutions as well as places holding personal memories are noted in the approximately 500 cutouts applied to the fan. The Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York, The Hotel Algazar in St. Augustine, Florida, Yale University, Barnard College, The Old Apple Tree in Nutley, New Jersey and the Laurel Pines Hotel in Lakewood, New Jersey, which opened in 1891, are some of the institutions and businesses represented.
