Evening dress

Designer Valentina American
ca. 1954
Not on view
One of the qualities Valentina was most recognized for was her pristine couture-like construction. For instance, the blouse of this evening ensemble is cut from one piece of faille and made to fit by using darts. Although the overall effect is simple, the construction is complex and thoughtful. Trained as a dancer and known for her theatrical personality, the dramatically graphic black and white would fit perfectly in Valentina's personal wardrobe.
