After the heavy styles of the later 1960s and 1970s, shoe fashion was overdue for a shift to a lighter, more delicate aesthetic. Glamorous evening sandals in a rainbow of glittery colors with slender straps and high spike heels perfectly complimented the sexy disco-style fashions of the late 1970s and early 1980s. This pair for Givenchy epitomizes the type. Sequins, which produced a dynamic sparkle with minimum weight, were a favored trimming at the time.
