Coatdress

Design House House of Dior French
Designer Christian Dior French
1957
Not on view
Christian Dior included a coat dress in his fall-winter line for 1947 and returned to the form ten years later to produce this design for what would be his last collection. Here, the designer used a wide pleated band to elongate the waist, and a row of large buttons as a focal point for the front of the dress. This garment, as well as two others, were given to the Brooklyn Museum collection by one of Dior's former models.
