Ensemble

Designer André Courrèges French
1967
Not on view
In 1965, Courreges stopped presenting collections in response to the proliferation of copies on the market. He returned to the runway in spring 1967 with designs that were more decorative and less angular. This short suit of powder blue duchesse silk from his fall 1967 collection features sheer net panels embroidered with white flowers at the front and back of the shorts and beneath each arm. Styled with pigtails, white gloves, and knee socks for a Courrèges promotional film, the look combines a naïve aesthetic with provocative display.
