Gricci was the chief modeler of the porcelain manufactory established in 1743 on the grounds of the royal palace at Capodimonte, outside Naples. Introduced the first year of the factory’s existence, the model of this snuffbox, with its surface composed of numerous shells and marine plant life in low relief, proved especially popular.
