The Dwarf Morgante as Bacchus
The model on which this piece is based has been attributed to Giovanni Bologna and dated ca. 1580 by analogy with the fountain group Morgante on the Dragon, now Museo Nazionale, Florence. Morgante (ca. 1535–after 1594) was the favorite dwarf of the Medici court.
